Chapter Twenty-One

Iam sad that we are saying goodbye to Anthony today. I will miss him. We are meeting him for breakfast at the same diner he and I went to yesterday. Liam ran across the street quick to the mini mart to pick up a few things for our road trip. Butterflies are flying around in my tummy at the thought of our adventure. I’m so unbelievable excited. I have a lot of cataloging to do, just in case Javier does find me I want to store away as much as I can. My stomach drops at the notion, I hope I never see him again.

“Addy?” a familiar voice says above me.

“Father Landon, what are you doing here?” I question, then realize that was not a proper greeting. “Please, please join me. I’m sorry, I’m so surprised to see you here.”

He looks around the diner as he slides into the booth and sits across from me. “I suppose I have a quick minute. I’m in town for a convention. I am also surprised to see you here. Are you alone?” He scans the room again.

“No, Liam and Anthony will accompany me soon.”

“Ah, I understand, very good. Will you all be in the city long? Perhaps we could get together for dinner some evening?” he asks.

“Oh, that would be lovely, but Liam and I are headed to Anna’s cabin in Colorado today.”

“Colorado, a beautiful state. Is Anthony going as well?” he inquires, and I notice he is not looking at me as he speaks. He is focused on the entrance.

“No, he is flying back to the estate,” I reply wondering why Father Landon seems so interested in our plans. He didn’t even ask me how I was doing. Maybe I am reading too much into this.

“It was nice seeing you again, Addy. I better be going, or I’ll be late for my seminar.”

“Oh, are you sure, the others will be here any minute. Are you positive you can’t join us for breakfast?”

“Thank you, Addison, but I must go.” He winks and then turns walking out of the diner.

Did he wink at me? What was that all about? I don’t have time to ponder the encounter as Liam and Anthony enter together. They are both laughing. I am glad. I hoped that I would not cause a rift in their friendship. They’ve both been a little jealous over me.

“Addison, you look amazing today,” Anthony coos. “I think the cold air has done you good. Me on the other hand not so much. I need to get back to warmer temperatures. But, I hear you and Liam are only heading into a colder climate if that is possible.” He shivers overdramatically.

Anthony makes me laugh. Oh, I’ll miss him. We order and then stuff ourselves until none of us can take another bite.

“I’ll bring the car around while you two say goodbye,” Liam says.

Anthony stands and they give each other a quick bro hug and then he slides into the spot beside me that Liam just vacated.
